“Electoral College Facts”

Read Article 1 (“Electoral College Facts”), then:
1) Write your first paragraph using the information in that article to briefly summarize. This will be
your introductory paragraph. You should tell the reader what the electoral college is, why the
framers chose to create it, and the process of choosing the President, briefly (You will add a little
more here later, once you are done with all of the articles).
Read Article 2 (“Arguments Against the Electoral College”), then:
2) Write a summary paragraph, including the main points of the article. Be sure to include the title
of the article in quotations so that we know what article you are writing about.
3) Write a paragraph explaining which of the possible reasons given in the article YOU think is the
BEST reason to abolish the electoral college, and why. (You don’t have to think it’s correct, but
you need to tell me which is their best argument).
Read Article 3 (“Arguments For Keeping the Electoral College”), then:
4) Write a summary paragraph, including the main points of the article. Be sure to include the title
of the article in quotations so that we know what article you are writing about.
5) Write a paragraph explaining which of the possible reasons given in the article YOU think is the
BEST reason to keep the electoral college, and why. (You don’t have to think it’s correct, but you
need to tell me which is their best argument).
Read Articles 4 & 5 (“Faithless Elector: A Court Ruling Just Changed How We Picked Our President,” and
also “Justices Rule States Can Bind Presidential Electors’ Votes.”), then:

6) Summarize the main points of the two articles in one paragraph. Generally tell me what this
newest issue over the electoral college is about, and what the different rulings were. How could
this change the election in 2020?
